Are you always on a diet yet never really lose any weight, not long term anyway? Why is that do you think? I'm sure you go at it with all the best of intentions and tell yourself this is it, this time I'm going to lose x pounds and keep them off, yes sir. Only to find a month or so later you have lost interest or will power or something's happened in your life to throw you off track, but you'll be right back on it as soon as this has passed.
I believe the answer is that when you gear up for serious weight loss you make it a tough, challenging and stressful experience, when really it should be a relaxed matter of fact phase in your everyday life. Hey, you are eating some healthy food that's good for you and not full of fat and you exercise a bit more. What's the big deal? It's hardly Nobel Prize stuff now is it?
Yet how much of a big thing do you make it. 'Oh I can't eat that I'm on a diet you see', 'I'm on a diet, it's so difficult', 'I need to schedule some exercise because I am losing weight', 'look at me what a wonderful martyr I am, do pass another lettuce leaf, only my second today' - blah blah blah blah.
Come on lighten up; it's a weight loss program you are on not invasive brain surgery. Focus on the solution not the problem or the process.
‧ Decide what size or weight you want to be
‧ Write it down and commit to achieving it
‧ Read it out loud at least twice a day
‧ Visualise yourself as this new slim person
‧ Run a movie in your head of you doing wonderful things you don't do now
‧ Create you action plan - what you are going to eat and when and how you will exercise
‧ Write down all the fantastic things you will wear and all of the other benefits you associate with your new image
‧ Write down all the negative consequences of you not achieving it
That's it.
Consider this, lose one pound per week and that's a 52 pound weight loss in a year, two pounds per week and that's over 100 pounds in a year. That's between 3 and 6 stone weight loss, that's some serious success.
Do you think with just a little effort you could manage a one pound or two-pound weight loss each week? Of course you can so stop the martyrdom, the theatrics and the stress and just get on with it slim.
